End-of-term-itis, it’s purportedly called…
… I call it the end of the honeymoon period.
There have been a multitude of “I love my friends”, “You guys are great” and even a “I doubt that I’ll be keeping in touch” posts on Facebook, various blogs and other sources of the interweb (I myself have just posted one such thing). One person said it was “End-of-term-itis”, which is a valid, logical explaination of why moods have been swyaing of late. My theory is that the end of the “honeymoon period” as arrived.
“Everybody’s friendship’s are different.”
Which is extremely accurate, but all have a common denominator - the honeymoon period. Some friendships last out without hitting that invisible limit, whereas others hit it at a fairly rapid pace. I consider myself lucky in some respects that the friends I have I have never hit that barrier with, but sometimes it can be a curse as well as a blessing…I think it’s more a natural threshold, or a Universal action (or written in the Big Book Of Things To Do (Human Edition) by His Holiness God.) Whatever it is, it seems to exist, and people tend to deal with it in different ways - some people get mopey, some get extremely apathetic, others get depressed, or stressed, or just plain annoying. A lot of the time, this period (now to be called the HP) happens on one side of the equation, hence every now and again friends fall out over the most trivial of things, but there comes a time when both (or in the case of a group, all) the friends hit the HP barrier at the same time. This is when the madness starts.
It’s sort of the same with our circle. I say sort of, as I don’t think it’s happening with everybody - but there’s so many changes happening it’d hard to notice if it was… All I can hope is that Easter is refreshing for all involved, and that it’ll allow a clarity of mind and maturity of heart to look back on these paset events and laugh as silly nonsense in the GSOT…
I sincerely hope that I get to have a break myself - though I have been ordered by my tutor to take a bit of a break, and if the Old Bar isn’t open over easter, I may find myself residing on the coast of our fair country for a weekend or so…
Well, that is my tuppence worth. As I wrote in my Facebook note, those I consider friends will know that I do, not by what I say, but by my actions towards them.
And with that, I rebuild the walls around my thoughts, feelings, emotions and beliefs, and sign this off as my last ever blog post.
It’s been fun, it’ll only get better.
:o)
